Recently, Oracle has become aware of numerous flaws in their Java products. They have been releasing patches more frequently in recent weeks and LTS has been working hard to update these software products on our campus in order to ensure the security of our systems. In this process, Oracle has disabled some legacy features that many older applications and some newer ones rely on. If you know that a web site or any other application you use for your curriculum or your daily work uses Java, please verify that it continues to work after the latest version of Java is installed. You can see the version installed on your computer through the Software Center on Windows computers ( Start > All Programs > Utilities Under the Installed Software tab). We have seen some issues with Java RE 1.6 update 33 and later, Java RE 1.7 update 11 and later. If you have any applications that are a problem or you have further questions, please contact the LTS Help Desk.
